USA: 'We are all singing from the same hymn book' on N. Korea - State Dept.

US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert described Russia’s decision to expel US diplomats working in their embassy as a “very regrettable step," when speaking from a press conference in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

“Limiting our diplomatic presence there calls into question Russia's seriousness about trying to create a better relationship with the United States," Nauert said.

She went on to state that the US would like to improve relations with Russia and that while working together over a ceasefire shows areas of common ground, progress is hampered by fact there is “a lot of suspicion on the part of, certainly of Americans.”

The press briefing mostly focused on the situation on the Korean Peninsula, particularly in light of US President Donald Trump's recent statement that "[North Korea] will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen."

Nauert confirmed that the State Department and the president are “all in agreement” with the pressure campaign on North Korea, and that the US approach is supported by ASEAN.

“We are all singing from the same hymn book," she said.
