Venezuela: 'Hostile, disrespectful and abject' - Venezuelan FM slams Trump comments

The Venezuelan government denounced statements made by US President Donald Trump suggesting the possibility of US military intervention in Venezuela, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said in a statement in Caracas, Saturday.


SOT, Jorge Arreaza, Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs (Spanish): "The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly rejects the unfriendly and hostile statements of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, on 08/11/2017, in which he threatened military intervention against our homeland, which is clearly in violation of the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and the rules of international law, particularly as regards to the use or threat of use of force against the political independence of States".

SOT, Jorge Arreaza, Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs (Spanish): "Threatening our country, our people, our Latin America, our Caribbean, with a military intervention, is not only unprecedented and unusual, but deeply hostile, disrespectful, condemnable, abject."
